Our Story
CottonCloud Labs was co-founded by four college alumni who bring together complementary expertise in start-up entrepreneurship, ML engineering, patent law, and academic research.
We talked about how a friend’s patent application stalled after months of costly back-and-forth. Our patent lawyer spread a stack of office actions on the table while our ML engineer and professor sketched a simple “map” of claim space that could reveal gaps instead of echoing prior art. Over coffee at our usual Sunday donut shop, we realized we could build the tool we wished existed. That moment became the beginning of CottonCloud Labs, named after the street in our city where we first brainstormed the idea.
CEO Marvin Park brings over 20 years building digital platforms and growing start-ups, having led Unplay and BrickLink and later served as a VP at The LEGO Group, where he scaled BrickLink into the world’s largest LEGO marketplace.
CTO Gyo Kim has 25 years in full-stack software engineering, building enterprise platforms and leading CRM projects with AI assistants, with depth in scalable architectures and UI/UX.
CPO & CLO H. Lee is a U.S. Patent Agent and Korean Patent Attorney who has negotiated patents tied to more than $1.5B in revenue and understands cross-jurisdictional pain points.
Technical Advisor Hyoduk Shin, a UC San Diego Rady professor, co-authored the patent vacancies research behind PatentFlow.
